Under-the-radar features + smart shortcuts

Her are some of our favourite, lesser-known features in Count - small wins that can make a big difference.

  • ๐Ÿ”’ Locking a canvas: We love real-time collaboration in Count - but sometimes we want lots of people interacting with a report without stepping on each other's toes. When a canvas is locked, anyone who opens it gets their own independent session. You can still use control cells to explore the data โ€” it just wonโ€™t affect anyone elseโ€™s view.

    • Youโ€™ll find this option under your avatar dropdown or in the Count logo menu. And you can read more about this in our docs.

  • ๐Ÿ“ Some handy features when working with text on the canvas:

    • Press t and click anywhere to add a text field

    • Cmd + Ctrl + space or Win + . = add an emoji ๐Ÿ’ฅ

    • Type @ to mention someone or add a link to a cell/frame

    • If you like these, you can find the full text and markup shortcuts here.

  • ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Ever shared a canvas and wanted someone to land on a specific cell? You can link directly to a cell or frame, and Count will open the canvas zoomed in on that spot.

    • Just right-click on any object โ†’ Copy as โ†’ Copy link

  • ๐Ÿช„ Find & replace - even in individual cells. You can of course use Cmd/Ctrl + F to search the whole canvasโ€ฆ But did you know you can also find & replace within an individual SQL/Python cell?

    • Highlight your text โ†’ Cmd/Ctrl + fn + F2 โ†’ type your replacement text.

  • ๐ŸŽจ Have you formatted one visual or text box just right? You can copy its style and paste it onto others:

    • Right-click on the nicely formatted object โ†’ Copy as โ†’ Copy styles

    • Select one or more similar objects โ†’ right-click โ†’ Copy as โ†’Paste styles

    • And fancy a shortcut for this shortcut? Just add Option to your normal copy/paste routine (Cmd + Option + C, Cmd + Option + V)
