Introduction

If you are an Admin in a project you can upload any CSV file to a project. This data can be analyzed alongside data from your database, a 3rd party integration, or with views created in other notebooks and projects.

How to Upload a CSV

  1. In your Project, click the Data tab
  2. Click CSV files
  3. Drag or select the CSV file you want to upload
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to import the file

Import Options

When you select your file, you'll see a preview of the data.

From here you can customize the following options:

Name

What this data will be named in Count.

The rules on naming tables are:

  • upper and lower cases accepted
  • cannot start with a number
  • cannot include spaces
  • no special characters (e.g. %, &, *)

Description (optional)

A short description of the dataset. You can always edit this one it's been imported.

Data Types

In each column you can select whether you want the data to be read in as:

  • String
  • Number
  • Date
  • Datetime
  • Timestamp

Encoding

Choose between:

  • UTF-8 (most common)
  • ASCII
  • Windows 1252
  • Latin 1
  • Latin 2

Delimiter Character

Choose between:

  • Comma (,) (most common)
  • Tab (\t)
  • Space
  • Pipe (|)

Quote Character

Choose between:

  • Single quote (')
  • Double quote (")

Escape Character

Choose between:

  • Backslash (\)
  • Double quote (")

Start from line

Enter the row number of where the import should start. This should point to where the column names are.

Skip Blank Lines

Yes or No whether to skip any blank rows that are found on import.
